Built for the gap between the list and the day.

I collected ideas. I didn’t put them into time. The list got longer. The afternoon stayed blank.

A list is good at holding what. It cannot hold when. Nothing in a list knows there are only so many hours left this week. The calendar cannot pretend twelve hours fit into six.

I come from communication design. I wanted one quiet thing that ran without a ritual — nothing to open, nothing to keep current. So I built that, for my own week first.

Speed was never the problem. Building a system instead of doing the work was. The tools are not the enemy. Notion and the rest are good at what teams actually need. The habit of constructing another setup when the last one started to slip — that is what I kept doing.

More tools, more features, more places to look. Each one feels like progress. Most of them are another surface to maintain. An app earns its surface when the app is the work. The tax shows up when it exists only to plan work that happens somewhere else.

Team tools earn their complexity. Many people, shared state, handoffs — a database is a rational answer to that. Working alone, I have none of that. The question is smaller and harder: what do I do now, and when does it actually fit. A database does not answer it. It just gives you somewhere else to put the question.

I built the systems anyway. Properties, a dashboard, a weekly review. It felt like progress because it was work — just not the work. Then it decayed, because keeping it accurate cost the attention the work already needed. I abandoned it. I went looking for the next one.

Keep the boring tools already open every day. Put a thin layer behind them that does the planning I would otherwise do by hand. That is the whole idea.

The smart part should run without me opening it. If I have to visit it first, it has already added a surface.

I am not building a project manager. No team scheduling, no boards, no assignees. If you need those, other tools are the better buy. This one stays small on purpose.
